C4ISTAR International Business Development Manager
As an independent market leading service provider, Harmonic Limited offers Business Winning, Management and Technical Services to a range of markets including defence and security. We help our clients to win, mobilise and deliver complex and critical programmes. Our defence and security client base includes blue chip prime contractors and the UK MoD.
We are currently assisting our client to place an interim International Business Development Manager.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to win profitable business within the client’s C4I Systems Business Unit, and to contribute to its projected growth plans over the next five years. The role will be responsible for maintaining our client’s current position and enable expansion into adjacent market areas, in territories worldwide, but with particular emphasis on Eastern Europe and the Asia/Pacific region.
Main responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of the long term strategic business plan over a 5 year period.
- Work together with Strategic Marketing and Corporate Affairs to identify market developments and pursue strategic opportunities which arise, in the short, medium and long term.
- Gather market intelligence to identify future market opportunities, and to give direction to internal R&D investments.
- Achieve an agreed annual order budget for the business unit in line with the strategic long term business plan.
- Develop, build and maintain both new and existing customer relationships, as well as establishing and sustaining wider relationships in the international defence sector in order to promote C4I Systems new business and to significantly shape their thinking.
- Develop new ways of promoting client in the international defence sector.
- Manage and co-ordinate multi-disciplinary teams for new business pursuits.
- Develop and write new business collateral for exhibitions, campaigns and proposals.
- Act as a ‘Champion’ for raising the quality, sales content and consistency of our client’s UK proposals.
Education and experience required:
- Deep understanding of the international defence sector, particularly in C4I and/or ISTAR.
- Demonstrable experience in a business management or a business development role within an International context, and in Eastern Europe and/or the Asia/Pacific region in particular
- Demonstrable track record of winning significant systems business and of building relationships with decision-makers at all levels within the international defence sector
- Good contact base across the international defence sector at, but not limited to, Director/1* level
- An understanding of the military, business, political and cultural background to the territory.
- A good honours degree would be preferable
